COERR Kanchanaburi Organized Child Right and Child Responsibility Training
in Tham Hin Shelter, Ratchaburi Province.

   The training was organized on December 9, 2019, in which 53 youth of 41 female and 12 male attended.

   The training aimed at providing more understanding about rights and duties of the child so that they could protect themselves, enjoy their rights, but not violate others’ rights.

   Contents of the Training were

   - Rights of the Child according to Convention on the Rights of the Child;

   - Child Right and Child Responsibility;

   - Exercise: Paying attention to child’s needs

   - Exercise: Rights and duties of the parents and son/daughter

   There are 54 articles in the Child Right Convention of which the main principles are the non-discrimination principle and best interest of the child. 37 articles directly concern the child in four aspects: Every child has the inherent right

   - to life;

   - to the protection of the law against interference or attacks;

   - to the maximum extent of survival and development;

   - Exercise: Rights and duties of the parents and son/daughter

   - and it is the rights of the child to freedom of association and to freedom of peaceful assembly.

   There were sessions in which participants brainstormed the roles of parents and roles and responsibilities of child in the family and community.

   Outcome of the Training was that participants had been more aware and convinced of rights and duties of the child as well as protection by the laws.

   Participants learned to tell their needs properly and understood their limits. It was their responsibilities to take care of their family and society.

   Later, COERR Mae Hong Son have organized a Child Right and Responsibility training in Ban Mai Nai Soi Temporary Shelter, Mae Hong Son Province on January 20, 2020. There were 211 schoolchildren, including 106 girls and 105 boys attending.
